Description:
The position of Extension Educator Animal Manure Management is being filled at the University of Nebraska in the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The successful candidate will be a member of the statewide Water and Integrated Cropping Systems Team, and will provide leadership and develop focused and comprehensive educational programs in animal manure management strategies in rainfed and irrigated agriculture to derive benefits from manure and minimize environmental impacts. This educator will collaborate closely with colleagues, state and federal agencies, agricultural organizations, industry personnel, and animal producers to coordinate and deliver land application certification training required by the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy. ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education level :
Required Qualifications:Masters degree required and must be completed prior to the start date; one degree in Animal Science, Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Mechanization, Agricultural/Biological Engineering, or closely related discipline, with emphasis on nutrient management strategies for crop production systems.Experience employing current digital management strategies and technologies for animal production.

Preferred Qualifications:Working knowledge of and experience with the use of precision agriculture strategies utilized in animal manure management.Experience teaching in a formal or informal setting.Ability to effectively communicate technical and non-technical information (e.g., publications, presentations, web, and social media).Experience working with individuals, coworkers, and teams to accomplish individual and/or group goals, as evidenced by academic, career, and/or community activities.Leadership skills as demonstrated by roles in academic, career, and/or community activities.Experience in the development and implementation of traditional and innovative program delivery methods (e.g., websites, blogs, Facebook, and Twitter, Pinterest, or other media platforms).
